Role of the SAU Board

RSA 194-C:5 – Each board of an SAU will meet between April 1 and June 1 to organize by choosing a chairperson, secretary and treasurer.
The SAU Board shall determine the salaries of all SAU personnel and shall apportion the expense of the salaries and benefits among the districts.
The SAU Board has the authority to hire, evaluate and remove the superintendent and other SAU administrators.
The SAU Board, before January 1, will adopt a budget for the expenses of the SAU for the next fiscal year.
There must be a public hearing on the SAU budget before final approval.
The SAU Board currently uses a one person, one vote method. At any time, a Board Member may ask for a weighted vote (1 vote for each 16 students residing in the district; the balance of 8 or more students will entitle the district to one additional vote).
